Singapore Sports School, Saturday, October 27, 2007 – Mark Tan of Singapore won a bronze medal in the 200m breaststroke final in the second leg of the Swimming World Cup held at the Singapore Sports School.

The 21-year-old ex-ACS(I) and Singapore Polytechnic student was surprised by his win. “The two Indonesians (Herry Yudihanto and Nicko Ricardo) have better personal best times than I do. But coach told me to stay focused and that’s what I did,” pointing to the word “focus” that was scrawled onto his left forearm. Mark, who is currently in National Service, will compete for Singapore in the upcoming South East Asian (SEA) Games in Thailand in the 100m and 200m breaststroke.
