About Handball
A team sport with 12 players on each team, only seven players each (six players and a goalkeeper) can take the court at any one time, with the remaining players being substitutes during the game. The aim is to pass and bounce a ball to throw it into the goal of the opposing team, involving techniques such as passing, throwing, catching and dribbling. The team with the most goals after two periods of 30 minutes wins.

Introduced as a men’s Olympic sport in 1936, with a women’s division brought in later in 1976, handball has since grown into one of the most highly attended Olympic sport events.
