vision 2030 live better through sports

Oregon, Tuesday, March 26, 2013 — Jonathan Woo of Singapore won his first collegiate individual championship at the Oregon Duck Invitational. Together with his teammates, they also picked up the team title.

Jonathan, a student at the University of Oregon, shot 67–69–72 for a three round total of 208, beating a field that included Chris Williams, who was ranked the No. 1 amateur golfer in 2012. Williams was six strokes behind with a 214 (71–73–70) total.

“I’ve been waiting for this for a while,” Woo was quoted as saying by The Register Guard. “I made it a goal for this year to win one and now I got it. It’s always good to have a start, you can always go and win some more. I’ve still got two years playing college golf, hopefully I win a couple more.”

On the last day, Jonathan recovered from a putt that ended up in the water to birdy seven of the last 11 holes. From the eight to the 12th hole, he had five straight birdies.
