Paya Lebar-Kovan CC, Saturday, June 9, 2012 — When you see Chifumi Ogura in action, you can’t help but be struck by her energy and lightness on her feet.

Chifumi won the only point for Hougang CSC as they went down 1-3 to Paya Lebar CSC. She beat Tan Pei Ying of Paya Lebar 3-0 (11-9, 11-1, 11-5).

“I started playing table tennis in Junior High. I trained for six years, then stopped for 10 years when I started work,” said Chifumi, who is in investment banking.

“When I started work, I decided I needed a hobby and took up table tennis again,” said Chifumi, who has lived in Singapore for over four years.

“When I came to Singapore to work, I became friends with my teammates. I play once of twice a week. I’ve met lots of people [through the Community Games].”

“The environment is nice. I’ve never been here before,” said Chifumi, referring to Paya Lebar-Kovan CC.

“Next time, I’ll come back.”
