“Obviously it’s pleasing to score another five goals,” said Burnley manager Brian Laws in the post-match interview. “Although we missed a lot of chances as well, it was good to see the guys moving the ball well and looking sharp.”

“We had at least 60 percent of the ball today and looked in control,” elaborated Laws. “It’s also good to see my strikers scoring as they are the ones who win games for you.”

“It’s been a good exercise against much tougher opposition,” he responded to how the Singapore tour has benefited the team so far. “The climate here is very humid as well, I think we’ll see the improvement in our fitness levels when we’re back in the UK.”

Chris Eagles echoed his manager’s sentiments when asked about his post-match feelings.

“It’s really good,” he said. “I’m pleased to get on today and to score a goal as well. It’s different when you come on as a sub. You’ll need to soak up the pressure and inject some pace, but I really enjoyed myself today as compared to the first game (against Gombak).”

“The opposition was very good today,” he responded when quizzed about Home United’s performance. “They kept the ball really well. I’m very surprised by the standards (of Singapore football), I wish I can play more games here!”

Meanwhile Home United skipper Valery Hiek reflected on the stiff challenge Burnley provided.

“Burnley’s a big club in England, it’s good to play against them,” he said. “They play very fast and their players are also big in size, they’re certainly a different level from the S.League.”

Home United now turn their attentions back to their S.League campaign where they are four points adrift of the top and will face Young Lions next on Thursday, July 29th.

Meanwhile Burnley will complete their tour of Singapore on Saturday, July 24th when they take on the Singapore Selection side led by national coach Raddy Avramovic at Jalan Besar Stadium.
