Monday, October 19, 2009 – The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) has received confirmation from Brunei DPMM FC that they are unable to resolve the Brunei Football Association (BAFA) issue in time to complete their S.League season.

On Friday 17 October, FIFA had denied the final appeal by FAS to allow DPMM to continue playing in the current S.League season while the suspension on BAFA still stood.

On the same day, DPMM had requested an extension till Monday 19 October to resolve the issue which they subsequently were unable to do so.

As such, all DPMM's results in the league will be expunged in accordance to S.League rules.

"DPMM has added another dimension to our S. League. This year, we have the best showing by the foreign teams, including DPMM becoming the first foreign team to win the League Cup. We are disappointed that Brunei FA is unable to resolve their issue in time for their club to complete their remaining five matches in our League. We wish them all the best in resolving their problem and hope that they can resume their football activities soon," said Winston Lee, CEO of the S.League.

DPMM has informed FAS that they will try to resolve the situation with FIFA soon so that they can be considered for participation in the 2010 S.League season.

"We have benefited greatly from playing in the S.League and are saddened that we are not able to complete our remaining S. League fixtures. We will like to thank FAS for giving us the opportunity to be part of the top ten league in Asia and we hope that the relevant authorities can come up with a workable solution pertaining to this matter," said Brunei DPMM team manager, Muhammad Waslimin.
