Defense wins championships
Slingers won as a team. Our local players, especially Desmond and Wei Long, are very very good defensive players. With 5 minutes left in the third quarter, when KJ was on the bench, the Slingers played 4 locals and LeBlanc. The lead increased from 9-12 points. Brandon Powell couldn’t score a point against Desmond ‘D’ Oh in that quarter. What does this show? It shows that our locals can play, just that their role isn’t in scoring. We tend to measure up a player’s skill according to the points he scored. It’s time to change that mentality. Defense do win games!~!~!

Commentators in the KL-Brunei game was quick to brand the Dragons as cannot compete in the ABL. This was when the Brunei lead was almost 30 points. The first few games are not indicators of a team’s competitiveness. Even some teams who got blown out in their first game went on to win the championship.
Most of the ABL teams have just been formed. For some, the ABL games are actually their “try-out” and experiment” games.
It was really a good thing that the Dragons was able to bounce back. I hope Thailand Tigers don’t fall to 0-2.
@nolah Nop, won’t happen if the rest of team does not have the defensive mentality. You win games as a team. Marcus still turns it over a little too much but is improving, Leblanc sometimes takes poor shots but is also getting better . KJ is faultless, no wonder he’s the co-captain, the hustle he brings is amazing.

K.J is the best import by far. Probably he is gonna be the league’s 1st MVP.

Congrats to Slingers. It will be interesting to see them play outside Singapore, away from their comfort zone and to a more hostile territory…But it was a great game irregardless. The Patriots need to work on their outside shooting coz’ it sucks. They were just throwing bricks through out the game..
