The much hyped, highly anticipated National A Division Boys Football Final originally scheduled to take place for the last time at the National Stadium before the grand dame gets demolished in June, is making its way to Kallang on Thursday, 24 May after all!

The Red Sports Crew were bracing ourselves for a major disappointment when we first received news that the Final would have to be postponed because, thanks to all the rain and mud that delayed some of the first round games, there was no way of making the original 18 May date for the Final at the National Stadium.

And there we were, thinking to ourselves, “Oh dear, not that awful pitch at CCAB again?” when the good news popped up in our email – that the National Stadium is a go-ahead.
Yippee yay to the finalists, and yippee yay to all your supporters and fervent followers of the National A Division Football tournament.

The Red Sports Crew, as promised, will be there at Kallang.  We’ll bring you a live play-by-play update over our web site for all you unfortunate ones who will not be able to make it there in person, so tell it to your other friends and family. (We were told that the media room won’t be open. Obviously we don’t qualify as media yet. If we get no power, we won’t have any live update.)  We will be there to capture the exciting action and will dedicate one RedSportsTV episode specially to the event, so you guys had better make sure you have your hair funkily styled and be prepared to show us some groovy moves.  Who knows?  You might gain some five seconds worth of fame on RedSportsTV.

And who knows as well? We might decide to pop in a surprise or two…

So, come on down, everybody, whether or not you’re a supporter of any of the teams or a student from either school.

And why so?

Because this may be the last time you’ll get to see the National Stadium.

Because you guys are going to be one of the last spectators to fill up the galleries of the stadium and create that funky Kallang wave, way better than those adults can.

Because this is our school scene and we are proud of it.

Because the National Stadium is huge enough for 50,000 people to have a party.

Because it is free. (We are Singaporeans, after all.)

And because… because the Red Sports Crew will be there.

If you want to come down and bask in the stadium atmosphere but can’t decide which team to root for, simple.

Just wear RED.

Good luck to all teams playing on the Kallang pitch on Thursday.

See you guys there.

Schedule of the day:
3rd/4th Placing Match
1500h  Victoria Junior College vs St Andrew’s Junior College

Final
1645h  Raffles Junior College vs Meridian Junior College

Editor’s note:  Will the captain of all football teams please send me a team list. Put down the name of the player and his jersey number. This will help with the live report rather than one that says "no 5 passed to no 6 who got tackled by no 7" which is very tiresome for your friends and family to read. Email me at les@redsports.sg. Thanks.

Be a sport on that day ok?  Cheer all you want, create as much of a din as you want, have a party in the stands but don’t throw empty plastic water bottles onto the pitch!
