There won’t be any vuvuzelas at next month’s test rugby match between the South African Springboks and the New Zealand All-Blacks.

“We’d rather not have vuvuzelas,” Golden Lions President Kevin de Klerk was quoted as saying in media reports, because the sound of the instruments will drown out calls by players at lineouts and scrums.

The instrument, which makes an annoying droning sound for television viewers and is dangerous for ear drums, has also been banned from Wimbledon, the Melbourne Cricket Ground and the Rugby World Cup next year.

Now we know why Ronaldo didn’t do well at the World Cup. He was yelling to his teammates “Pass to me! Pass to me!” but no one heard him.
