South Korea, Thursday, September 25, 2014 — Singapore’s fencers fell in the women’s epee team and men’s foil team quarter-finals against China and South Korea respectively.

The women’s epee team comprised Victoria Lim, Cheryl Lim, Goh Wan Qi, and Elizabeth Lim. They lost by a score of 22–45 to China, who are the top-ranked team in Asia. The men’s foil team comprised Joshua Lim, Wu Jie, Zhang Zhenggang, Jerrold Chan. They lost by a score of 21–45 to South Korea’s fencers, who are the second-ranked team in Asia.

South Korea, Wednesday, September 24, 2014 — Cheryl Wong gave the Singapore women’s foil team a good start in their quarter-final against Japan when she beat Miyawaki Karin in the opening duel by four touches to one. But, after Japan gained their first lead at 14–8 in the third duel when Nishioka Shiho demolished Singapore’s Liane Wong 9–2, Singapore could never quite level scores despite Cheryl Wong and Nicole Wong (both victors over Yanaoka Haruka 4–1 and 6–4 in the fourth and sixth duels respectively), and Wang Wenying (4–3 over Miyawaki Karin in the ninth duel) scoring further wins. Japan progress to the semi-finals as 43-29 winners over Singapore.
