Australia, Friday, August 14, 2009 – Singapore failed to register a win in Round 3 of the Australia Netball League and remained bottom of the table.

In the first match of Round 3, Singapore were up against Netball NSW Waratahs (NNW). Jumping out of the blocks early, NNW went showcased slick passing to lead the quarter 17-9. NNW further took advantage of their shooters’ height to extend their lead to 21 points by half-time.

In the third quarter, a determined Singapore tried to narrow the score margin. Long range shots from Tan Hui Yan and Rachael Yim helped to add to the team’s tally. However, the work on the defensive end saw no dividend. Singapore trailed 23-53 as they entered the last quarter.

NNW finished off Singapore 75-29 with swift movements and accurate shooting in the final quarter.

Singapore faced Canberra Darters in their second game and went down 33-68.

In the last game of Round 3, Singapore were up against Netball NSW Blues and continued to struggle. The Blues were consistent throughout the game scoring 23 points, 22 points, 22 points and 18 points in the four quarters. They limited limiting Singapore to just 2, 4, 4 and 4 points in each quarter to eventually wrap up the game 85-14.

Singapore will not play in Round 4 and will instead be back on home soil for Round 5 from August 21 to 23 at Toa Payoh Sports Hall.
