Teck Ghee Community Club, 23 July 2008 – Singapore’s top chess prospects got off to a good start by winning their opening games at the 4th World Schools Chess Championships 2008. World U-7 Champion Derek Lim, now playing in the U-9 Open, led the way with a quick win in 31 moves. He was closely followed by other bets Graham Chua in the U-13 Open, and Timothy Chan in the U-15 Open.

In the girls event, Monisha Raja Jawahar also carried the Singapore flag in the U-13 Girls category.
