Sentosa, Siloso Beach, Saturday, July 5, 2008 - Rebels 1 were crowned champions of the Women’s Division at the Singapore Beach Fun Touch Rugby tournament held at Sentosa earlier this month. They did so by beating their sister team, Rebels 2, 5-4 in the final to fulfill their expectations of a one-two finish.

Both teams were outstanding throughout the day as they dominated the field of teams. During the semi-finals, they recorded comfortable wins over their opponents, Rebels 1 beating Team 4 Mun 6-4 and Rebels 2 winning 6-2 against Team 2 Aslinda.

When it came to the final, they treated each other with respect and played hard. In the end, Rebels 2 lost by only one point and the game proved the most challenging match of the day for both teams.

For the Rebels, they came to this tournament with the aim of winning it. When asked about their chances of winning, Alex of the men’s Rebels A team, said, “Of all the Rebels teams, our expectations are on the women’s teams. We expect at least one team to reach the final as they have been playing very well for all their matches. Our whole Rebel team had to adapt to the conditions of the tournaments because beach rugby is very different from normal touch rugby.”
