Singapore, Friday, June 15, 2012 — The Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC) issued a list of 18 athletes who will represent Singapore at the upcoming London Olympic Games.

On the list is 2012 Sportsman of the Year, Joseph Schooling. The 16-year-old booked his ticket when he met the Olympic qualifying time for the 200m butterfly during the 2011 South-east Asian (SEA) Games.

Joseph clocked 1 minute 56.67 seconds to to win the gold at the SEA Games, beating the rest of the field by 3.37 seconds.

Table tennis, with six players, will be the sport with the highest number of Singaporeans at the Olympics. The women’s team won a silver medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

The SNOC Games Selection Committee is chaired by Mr Teo Chee Hean, the SNOC president.
