Kevin McDowell of USA looks like his nose is running after the 16:41 he ran for the 5km to finish as the silver medallist. The cap he has on is, according to him, his “lucky hat”. “One race I didn’t wear it, I crashed. I’ve worn it ever since,” he says. On his cap are the signatures of triathlon’s big names such as 2008 Olympics and 2009 World Championship female gold medallist Emma Moffatt and 2008 Olympics male gold medallist Jan Frodeno.
