Ontario, Canada, Thursday, August 27, 2009 – The Singapore team walked away with the all the medals on offer on the last day of the 2009 Byte CII World Championship in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, making this the most successful World Championship ever for Singapore sailing.

While no racing was done on the final day due to unfavourable weather conditions, Team Singapore sailors won six out of the six medals in the men's and women's categories based on their great and consistent performances earlier this week.

Despite having to face weather conditions that the young Singapore sailors have neither trained nor raced in, they adapted quickly and coped very well against other older and more experienced sailors.

Asian Youth Games gold medalist and Youth Olympic squad sailor Darren Choy took home the gold medal with 39 points, Youth Olympic squad sailor Terence Choo won the silver medal with 54 points and Chai Xun won the bronze medal with 64 points.
