Kingston, Ontario, Canada, August 25, 2009 – Asian Youth Games gold medalist Darren Choy overhauled teammate Terence Choo to take the lead on Day 3 at the 2009 Byte CII World Championship. Terence was leading after Day 2 and now sits 3 points behind Darren on 23 points. Another Singaporean, Asian Youth Games silver medalist, Najwa Jumali, is in third with 37 points.

The race continues and ends on August 27.

Before the start of the world championship, Youth Olympic Squad sailor Terence Choo had claimed the 2009 Byte CII Canadian Championship last Saturday.

The annual competition sees 39 sailors from various countries competing for top honours. Singapore has 14 sailors from the Youth Olympic and National Byte CII squads.

In a concurrent event, the IWA Junior, Youth and Masters Windsurfing World Championships, the Youth Olympic Squad windsurfers continue to compete in the Techno 293 under-15 category at Weymouth, United Kingdom.

After completing two races yesterday, the Singapore sailors are currently in the following positions:

Jeddy Tan Wei Jin, 29th / 66 boards
Chuah Jun Ler, 36th / 66 boards

Audrey Yong, 18th / 48th boards
Amanda Ng, 26th / 48th boards

About the Youth Olympic Games sailing events
The Byte CII and Techno 293 were chosen as equipment by the International Sailing Federation for the four sailing events at the Youth Olympic Games to be held in at the National Sailing Centre in Singapore in August 2010.
