Sentosa, Siloso Beach, Saturday, July 5, 2008 – Team Green Machine beat the Red Dot Rebels 4-2 in the final of the men’s beach touch rugby category. Green Machine had earlier seen off the challenge of WWBC 4-2 in the semi-final. Rebels had beaten Lanka Lions 5-1 in the other semi-final.
With beach touch rugby, only four touches are allowed rather than the usual six in regular touch rugby. Also, five players are playing at any one time – two from the defending team and three from the attacking team.
There were six categories in play: Boys Under-20, Girls Under-20, Men, Women, Mixed and Corporate. Monsoon won the Mixed final when they beat LMNP 5-3 and Bedok Boozers won the Mixed Corporate when they beat sibling team Bedok Boozers 2, 4-1.
