Singapore, April 2, 2008 - Brigadier-General (NS) Goh Kee Nguan has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of the Singapore Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee (SYOGOC). No stranger to large-scale operations, BG Goh chaired the executive committee of the 2006 National Day Parade and headed the SAF joint-task force for the tsunami relief efforts in Indonesia.

Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports said, "The Singapore YOG Organising Committee has been entrusted with the challenge of staging an exciting and memorable Games in just under two-and-a-half-years. To achieve this, we need individuals who have the experience in organising mega events, and in managing operations and people at all levels. With his strong leadership and organising capabilities, Brigadier-General (NS) Goh meets the criteria perfectly.”

The SYOGOC Panel of Advisors will also be buttressed by the addition of Dr Ng Eng Hen, the new Minister for Education. He will join current Panel members:

  1. Mr Teo Chee Hean, Minister for Defence and President of the Singapore National Olympic Council;
  2. Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Minister for Finance;
  3. Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports; and
  4. Mr Teo Ser Luck, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Community Development, Youth and Sports & Transport
