This was the first rugby 15s final to be played at the National School Games since 2019.

National C Div #Rugby: Effective kicking by fullback Harry Curran (ACS(I) #15) saw Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) through to their 27th straight C Division rugby final, after beating brother school Anglo-Chinese School (Barker Road) 61-0 in the semi-final.

The C Division season brought the return of 15s rugby to the National School Games (NSG) for the first time since the Covid-19 situation began. Earlier this year, the A and B Divisions competed in a 7-a-side format tournament, due to the prevailing regulations.

“It is a good change from the 7s that we watched our seniors play,” said Independent captain Jeremiah Lee (ACS(I) #15). The centre added: “There were a lot more things to cover compared to 7s, but I think the coaches did a very good job… they pushed us to our max.”

ACS(I) will play St. Andrew’s Secondary in the final tomorrow (August 25) – a repeat of the 2019 C Division final.

National C Div #Rugby: Effective kicking by fullback Harry Curran (ACS(I) #15) saw Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) through to their 27th straight C Division rugby final, after beating brother school Anglo-Chinese School (Barker Road) 61-0 in the semi-final. The C Division season brought the return of 15s rugby to the National School Games (NSG) for the first time since the Covid-19 situation began. Earlier this year, the A and B Divisions competed in a 7-a-side format tournament, due to the prevailing regulations. “It is a good change from the 7s that we watched our seniors play,” said Independent captain Jeremiah Lee (ACS(I) #15). The centre added: “There were a lot more things to cover compared to 7s, but I think the coaches did a very good job… they pushed us to our max.” ACS(I) will play St. Andrew’s Secondary in the final tomorrow (August 25) – a repeat of the 2019 C Division final. Their 5-0 defeat of St. Joseph’s Institution (SJI) sealed their top position in the tournament, played in a round robin format this year.

Across four decades since 1983, the Rafflesians have failed to win the title on only eight occasions at most, with VJC (1985, 1987, 2013, 2016), National Junior College (1998), Jurong Institute (2002) and St. Andrew’s Junior College (2010) the other schools to have won it. Archives for 1993 are unavailable while the championship was called off in 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
