Bukit Gombak Stadium, Wednesday, April 8, 2015 — Featuring in her first A Division event, Kon Pei Ying (#189) of Hwa Chong Institution (HCI) cleared a height of 1.58 metres to top the girls’ high jump field at the 56th National Inter-School Track and Field Championships.

The A Division debutant, formerly from Nanyang Girls’ High, was also last year’s B Division champion with her jump of 1.53m.

Kon’s (#189) seniors, Lim Ping (#191) and Siew Lei (#201) recorded jump heights of 1.52m and 1.48m respectively and completed the podium sweep for HCI.

Siew (#201), who won gold in last year’s event with a jump height of 1.54m, could not replicate her performance and had to settle for the bronze medal.

The A Division girls’ high jump record stands strong at 1.72m and was set by Michelle Sng, then of Raffles Junior College, in 2004. Sng currently holds the national record of 1.84m, which was set earlier this year, on March 19 at the Philippines Open.
