Scott Wong of Hwa Chong Institution won the gold medal with a throw of 16.28m at this year’s National Inter-School Track & Field Championship. The existing championship record was broken twice by Scott and his HCI teammate Nicholas Yong.

Despite having had injuries on his right shoulder, Nicholas still proved to be a formidable thrower, being the first to break the record with a distance of 16.14m. Not content with playing second fiddle, Scott matched Nicholas' throw with another record breaking distance - 16.28m. Nicholas, however, was unable to match up to his junior's throw and had to settle for second place. Poon Yee Siang, also of HCI, finished third with a throw of 13.48m.
