Dunman High confirmed their position as Group A winners with a 68-62 victory over Changkat Changi and qualified for the quarterfinals of the adidas It Takes 5ive Tournament. Ngee Ann booked their quarterfinal slot as well as Group A runners-up with a 56-49 win over Chung Cheng High (Yishun).
In Group B action, Anglo-Chinese School (International) beat Bishan Park 44-25 to confirm their status as Group B winners. Having beaten all their group opponents by an average of 19 points, ACS(Int’l) are firm favourites for the Tournament. Outram, having beaten Bishan Park 28-23 in a crucial game, qualify for the quarterfinals also as Group B runners-up.
In Group C, Commonwealth secured top spot with three consecutive wins, outscoring all their opponents by a whopping average of 30 points. They too look good going into the quarterfinals and will be joined by runners-up Balestier Hill.
The boys of Jurong West, Yishun, Yuying, Hwa Chong and Huayi all have similar 2-0 records and should qualify for the quarterfinals from their respective groups. Who joins them as group runners-up will soon be known.
In the Girls groups, Huayi is the only unbeaten team and they lead Group B. Naval Base look the most promising team to qualify for the semifinals as the group runners-up. In Group A, Yuying, Woodgrove and Bedok Green all have similar 2-1 records but Bedok Green look the strongest of the three. Yuying and Woodgrove are to play in a crucial match next Tuesday, 14 August at CCAB to determine who will qualify for the semifinals.

could ACS beat BPSS on Tuesday?
I think, ACS could relax and enjoy the game because they have take ticket to next round…and BPSS need 1 more ticket for take a place in 2nd place.
So, ACS player, let us win lah y? hha…don’t need to be so agressive…
[…] Anglo-Chinese School (International) beat Greenview Secondary 61-39 to grab top spot in Group B and establish themselves as one of the favourites in the adidas It Takes 5ive Tournament. […]
i would like to add 2 things.
1) most of the teachers 80@ at least do not like the cca they are allocated. and many of them also have no idea the cca they r put in charge.
2)EDUCATE a sch student now is not as easy as ABC, if u spend time cultivating good behaviour, they cannot cover the syllabus. parents will complain to principal, MOE and write to forum.
3) I am very thankful that there is still someone who thinks that discipline and values are more important than winning, but the reality is that those are what the MOE can untangible indicators. WINNING IS tangible cos 1st 2nd 3rd 4th, very clear.
We are free to comment, but to make it a fair one,i will try not to go to the extreme and should be more linient to them. Referees, teachers but not the players. THEY MUST BE PUNISH, by their PARENTS pls.
I also dun agree with the way they behave, i am equally worried of MY FUTURE when they become our leader, i am just giving my 2 cents worth. No one can change the trend of the youth now. They behave in whatever way they like, giving no respect to anyone. I think that instead of keep saying the teachers are incompetant, why not give them the benfit of the doubt. Coach dun even have enough to teach skills so that they can win and keep their job.Moral edu is only less den 5% of lesson time. If you r so angry u may consider telling our edu minister. By they way punish the student is very very difficult,if slightly “tougher”, the teacher of even the Principal will be in trouble.NCHS incident is a very very gd example. Our society must realise something is wrong and do something. IF not nothing will change, like the youth hogging the seats in MRT n BUS while senior citizens stand.
the organizer is a young lady who is not as muscular as the boys, by the way.
i totally disagree on the fact that lady teachers cannot mange the school boys becos of the differences in size / build. after the shouting from some pupils from these 2 schools was heard, it was the organizer who stopped all the nonsense by saying loudly “hey boys, mind your language here!!!” Sure, further action can be taken against the boys in school. but the point is that, something has to be done on the spot as well. And, if any teacher cannot manage the boys, then i do not think that teacher should take the CCA. The bottomline is: many teachers do not educate the boys well enough in school. If the boys were taught well what was proper behaviour and good attitude, the boys would not pick up a fight / almost got into a fight, or would not shout out hokkien vulgar words in public. What is the point of winning if the discipline is like that? what kind of citizens are we developing through basketball? There is definitely something more important than winning or losing in a competition, right?
les, are u the organiser of this website and the gallery photo taking?
if yes, could the photographer take the photo of the match of Bishan Park Sec Sch vs ACS International? i think it will be fun and interesting picture there…hope to see the photo soon y? Thanks and please consider about my request…
“Yo” U are right…the referees didn’t done the job very well even that i am ok with that but i feel is unfair to my team mates who are innocent…The referees scold my friends by saying i am useless is it? i mean that the referee was in high emotional…i very unhappy to the referee that was really waste the game time…we are losing 5 pts from outram if the referee didn’t waste it…i think, we could win it…
1) The referees MUST check the nails b4 the game.ITs their duty.
2) SOme teachers r just too concern over their players,so a bit aggitated.
3) Some teachers are ladies n the males players are much bigger in size.when they scold vulgar n rough it is unwise to stop them there.maybe they deal with them back in sch???
I think it is not good for such things to happen. the players must learn form it.
Thanks for corrections. Look out for pics. Coming soon.
Yuying beat guangyang, so guang yang should be (1-1), 1 win 1 loss.
Sad to hear such bad thing happened, maybe the teachers wasn’t around?
maybe the teachers are relief, or new.
i don’t thinks u guys should post it out.
or maybe, they are given offence slips at schools.
les, u forgot to add on smth,
Yishun Sec win group games.

Thanks for correction, Yang. I appreciate it.

Can the referee give time to let the player to warn up before match?
last match, we didn’t given time to warm up…please the referee dun to emotional…
Really sad to hear that such bad things happened. I fully agree that the teams’ discipline to be kept in check. However, I don’t think that the comment made is fair to everyone. There are many teachers who are doing a fine job but some others ae still in the process of learning themselves… Teachers need to learn too you know.
Just saw a mistake in the results. Yuying beat Guangyang should be under girl’s side. Hence, the result should be
Boy’s (1-0), Girls (1-0)
hey, is there a way to get the pics to be uploaded?
to reminder,
Please given sch name.
Maybe the sch tat lost was sore, they wasn’t satisfied wif the result?
Please do not insult teacher.
Are u the organiser?
Today two schools’ players exchanged vulgarities after the game at the corridors, simply becos of the teacher of School A asking the players of School B to cut their finger nails (as the players in School A were scratched in the game). Then the organizer told me that yesterday, another 2 schools also exchanged vulgarities and almost got into a fight after the game at the court… Worst part is that the teachers of these 4 schools did nothing to stop things from getting worse! They all just kept quiet. I think if the Principals know about all these about players and teachers, the cca can be closed down. For goodness sake, Teachers, do your job and stop dreaming please. Your job is not just to mark attendance ok…………!!! SIGH… So much about education thr’ basketball. What a SHAME!!!
hci vs ponggol,61-34.
hci won.
