With the game tied 10-10 even after extra time, St Andrew’s Junior College (SAJC) were awarded the game against Anglo-Chinese Junior College (ACJC) having scored the first try in the game.
The team were evenly matched throughout the game. ACJC scored a penalty through Azmi at about the 10th minute. SAJC scored a try on the 25th minute of play but failed to convert. Half time score was 5 – 3 to SAJC.
ACJC scored a try starting with a blistering run by Andrew Yap for a good 50 metres before passing it to Ming Xia at the 22 to finish the try. With the conversion, ACJC led 10 -5. SAJC responded with a try later but failed to convert.
With the score at 10-10, the game went into extra time.
Both teams were fighting hard during extra time and a penalty was given to ACJC. Unfortunately from about 30 metres out, it was not converted and the game ended at 10 apiece.
However, after deliberation and checking with officials, the referee awarded the game to SAJC having scored the first try in the game.
Too bad for ACJC that the game had to end in such a way. I am also sure that SAJC did not want a win in this manner anyway but rules of the game have to be followed.
Both teams played well and tough on a hard pitch.
Scoring statistics (according to a Saint):
4.47pm SAJC 0 – 3 ACJC (penalty)
5.08 SAJC (1try) 5 – 3 ACJC
5.29 SAJC 5 – 10 ACJC (1 try, 1 penalty, 1 conversion)
5.36 SAJC (2 tries) 10 – 10 ACJC

true mate ! very true…
ROFL *** We all know who didn’t get it! Enough said.
send me you email… i will draw it out for u.
sorry chaps…
its not intentional, but its that darn cookie thing when u use two laptops..easily forget..
nyway.. Generalised statements must be mostly true. To say that ‘ACS’ refers to the ‘general ACS chaps ie the select ones that give the school a bad name’ …. huh???
u mean after all that u didnt get what i meant? do i need to draw it out? which part do u not get? should i type it out in chinese?
Neutral (SA OLD BOY) :
Errr … You didn’t realise your name is still Neutral? We all see the same name on this page, no? *** Anyway, why not just change your name to ANTI ACS to reflect your sentiments more accurately?
p.s. Smart people would know their English better *** It’s a poor analogy you’ve made. Generalised statements must be mostly true. To say that ‘ACS’ refers to the ‘general ACS chaps ie the select ones that give the school a bad name’ …. huh???
Err actually u are wrong ACSForever.. I did play in a winning side..and worse ! I was the junior at that squad!
Now I know you are a smart person..so think abt this.
If I make a statement “Singaporeans are hard working people”. Its quite obvious the statement is a generalised statement made to majority of Singaporeans… the ones who will have a problem with that statement are the ones who arent hardworking..
So in this forum, the term ‘ACS’ would refer the general ACS chaps who give the school / rugby a bad reputation with their personalities. (ie: the select ones that give the school a bad name)
Now if you look back at this forum we’re on.. you come in recently and make a comment abt me (which is fine) and then blame the rules, convenor, refs, injuries, others sports..?
Come on, dont act innocent now… if a team lose, the team loses. a good team will rise above all factors and win. a poor loser is one who cant accept defeat.
ps: Anyway, the action is on the other forums, so I will be there.. this forum is old news already ! Cheers !
Oh? So tell me who was I blaming?
SA does deserve credit for winning, no matter how narrow a margin, and I gave it. But you just decided to go ahead and undermine your own school with such childish and accusing remarks, SA OLD BOY.
Anyways, from the looks of your, I guess you’re one of the batches that didn’t make it, and when you finally get a chance that your juniors throw to you, you grab it and swoon with pride. Because you’re finally getting it for once.
Congrats for your 3rd placing. Enjoy it while it lasts. (:
ACS Forever:
Actually thanks I didnt realised that my name was still Neutral…its that IE stoopid cookie thingy..
Fact is… I am an old SA boy/player… and 2nd fact is that I support SA and any team playing against ACS
why? u mean u didnt realise that not many people liked ACS ?
get real mate.. u lost… so stop blaming everyone else.
if u have an issue…grab a tissue ! 🙂
and thanks Red Coach DYip for correcting the misconception
“let’s get this straight, every refree in the a div is anti-ac and pro-sa except for anthony. 😉 something has to be done to this if not it wunt be fair at all to future ac teams. how bout changing the convernor of rugby for schs?”
oh please. stereotyping the referees.
i guess what you are super eager to hear is “AC’s the best, they got the best teams and blah blah blah.”
i guess this is rather immature.
Hi ac fan! You have obviously not understood my clear as daylight explanation above. I’m not serving any school btw but am a Redsports staff member. Please look at point #2 above in BOLD LETTERS. The whole simple process is sparkling CLEAR ! You just can’t complain and say “Change!”and expect someone to wave a magic wand and “hey presto!” it is changed! …next year or any year.
You want to change or hope for a change of convenorship ? SIMPLE….just follow the steps as I’ve outlined.
1. CONVINCE YOUR PRINCIPAL TO TAKE UP THE POST BY NOMINATING HIMSELF AS THE RUGBY CONVENOR 2008 ( ie your school ACS? ). Can you convince him? That’s the 1st step.
2. There is no need for any other step IF YOU CANNOT CONVINCE YOUR PRINCIPAL TO GO PAST THE 1st STEP. RIGHT ?
3. If he can be convinced and is willing, he will know what to do as I’ve outlined.
ps: If I’m an HONEST Rugby Referee, I would be very, very HURT by your
RECKLESS, UNWARRANTED and DANGEROUS charge you have made above. You need to exercise some control when you make comments.

let’s get this straight, every refree in the a div is anti-ac and pro-sa except for anthony. 😉 something has to be done to this if not it wunt be fair at all to future ac teams. how bout changing the convernor of rugby for schs?
There are a number of errors and misconceptions on the convenorship issue posted here. Allow me to clarify for all you die-hard supporters.
1. CCAB DOES NOT appoint convenors for each sport. They have no such authority. The authority lies with the respective governing body for school sports ..(A) The Singapore Schools Sports Council (SSSC ) for Sec schs,JCs and Insts. and ( B) The Singapore Primary School Sports Council ( SPSSC ). All schools in Singapore are automatically members of either one council with the Principal having a voting right.
2. At the respective AGM of the 2 councils held early in January each year, on the same day, at the same venue. ANY SCHOOL CAN VOLUNTEER TO BE NOMINATED AS A CONVENOR FOR ANY SPORT IF THEY WANT TO…IN THE ELECTION OF OFFICE-BEARERS FOR THAT YEAR. LOGICALLY, IF THERE ARE NO OTHER VOLUNTEERS OR NOMINATION FOR THAT CONVENORSHIP, THAT SCHOOL WILL BE CONFIRMED FOR THAT POST.
HOWEVER, IF THERE ARE 2 OR MORE INTERESTED PARTIES VYING FOR CONVENORSHIP OF A SPORT, AN ELECTION TAKES PLACE. The school with the most votes will be the convenor.
3.CCAB’s role is merely to co-ordinate and advise the 2 councils in the procedures and the process.
4. The term of office for all convenors is the current year (one year only).
5. Only the Chairperson of the 2 councils are appointed by the Minister of Education.
6. All school sports are run by elected school convenors except for Floorball which is managed by the S’pore Floorball Association.
Hope this will help all better understand the overall picture.

Gosh, so much for claims of being ‘fair’. Stop trying to pretend to be NEUTRAL when you’re obviously siding one school. It’s disgusting. Well, and it just so happens to be extremely, suspiciously convenient that the rule should benefit SA when SAS is the Convenor. Hmm.
One game doesn’t decide the true strength a team. Everyone can have a bad day, even refrees, though that would suck because it’s plain disappointing to play an unfair match after training so hard. Moreever, AC did play with a few significant players injured and unable to take the pitch. I really don’t think it’s up to any outsider to try and prove who is the stronger team, because both would have trained hard and fought hard.
Anyways, I think refrees in all the school sports this year should be polished up, in order to create fair play for the sportsmen – be it rugby, hockey, netball, polo, basketball, whichever sport. Let a win be a justified win, and a loss a justified loss too.
AC will get it back. Maybe not this year, but the next or in a couple of years. Keep watching.
i think there’s a Kevin Neo too tat is J1 on RJC’s side
obviously you haven;t realized that that statement was made BEFORE the finals and if so how can it possibly be an excuse.
tough acs. we’ll get it back soon enough.
someone from RJ correct me if i’m wrong but there was only Anwar who’s a J1 on the RJ side? not to say that is an excuse for losing. there are no excuses. simply unfortunate circumstances 😉
Anyway well done to RJC & ACS(Independent)
yup.. that might be their other excuse.. rj players were older and better than us…
hmmm… wonder what their top ten excuse will be this time?
1) saints were not in the final.. (*duh)…
2)…..
ok.. i think uncle les is going to reprimand me for being naughty …so we’ll wait and read the news from uncle wee..
this is what i saw at http://www.acsrugby.com
“these players will face their older opponents – with 13 first year students and 2 Second Year – facing 15 Year 2 students from Raffles Junior college”
this is not the case. there are year 1 students playing from RJC side.
acs seems to be losing everything…
bet they will say that the ref was biased…the weather was bad… the ball was too flat… rj played with 16 players.. and on and on and on….
picture 6. the saint who’s tackling is daniel chua.
