Eliminated in the group stage last year, it would be fair to say River Valley High School (RVHS) were considered no-hopers in this year’s National A Division Floorball Championship.
History was made in the 58th National Inter-School Cross Country Championships when unfancied Nan Hua High School clinched the B Division Girls’ team title and brought home its first ever cross country championship.
ACJC pulled away in the third quarter to wrap up the bronze-medal victory.
MJC scored 55 goals and conceded only six in their six games to top their group and secure a spot in the semi-finals. River Valley ended their season with no wins.
Fabian Hoy (NYJC #75) earned top scorer honours with three goals, while Ashley Teo (RVHS #23) scored his team’s only goal.
Lim Qian Hui (RVHS #8) scored both goals for River Valley High.
TJC have achieved qualification to the second round of the competition after failing to do so in the last six years.
The team’s top runner, Isabelle Toh, clocked 24 minutes 38 seconds for the 5km route. She was followed by her teammate Ong Wui Shen with a time of 24:59.
