South Zone defending champions Catholic High held off a resilient Clementi Woods 2-0 (25-18, 26-24) to win their opening match at the South Zone B Division Boys' Volleyball Championship.
Three South Zone schools, two East Zone schools, two West Zone schools and one North Zone school qualified for the second round of the National B Division Netball Championship.
In the South Zone B Division Netball Championship, Raffles Girls' School and St. Margaret's Secondary easily overcame their second round opponents in Group Y. RGS beat Crescent Girls' School 45-10 while St. Margaret's defeated Ang Mo Kio Secondary 41-17.
CHIJ (TP), RGS and Cedar Girls' finished top while Crescent Girls' School, SCGS and Ang Mo Kio were second in their respective groups.
St Margaret's Secondary, Cedar Girls' School, Raffles Girls' School, CHIJ Secondary (Toa Payoh). Crescent Girls' School, Fairfield Methodist School, Singapore Chinese Girls' School and Ang Mo Kio Secondary qualified for the second round of the C Division South Zone Netball Championship.
Cedar Girls', Ang Mo Kio, CHIJ (Toa Payoh), Crescent Girls', RGS, SCGS, St Margaret's and Serangoon Garden make it through to the second round of the B Division South Zone Netball Championship.
Catholic High and Raffles Institution both started the season with comfortable wins over their opponents, but in contrasting fashion.
