Co-Curricular Activities Branch, Monday, February 1, 2010 – All the recognised powerhouses have progressed into the second round of the B Division South Netball Championship.

Cedar Girls’ Secondary thrashed St Theresa’s Convent 40-10, toppled Holy Innocents’ High 67-4 and handed Bukit Merah Secondary 57-3.

The other powerhouse in Group A, Ang Mo Kio Secondary, were in excellent form too, keeping all their opponents to below five goals. Ang Mo Kio Secondary knocked out St Theresa’s Convent 41-3, defeated Holy Innocents’ High 65-1 and trounced Bukit Merah 57-4.

Cedar Girls’ School and Ang Mo Kio Secondary have confirmed a spot in second round. They will now play each other on February 10 at 1pm to see who will finish first in their group.

B Division National defending champions, CHIJ Secondary (Toa Payoh), had an easy time in Group B, with no schools coming close enough to be a threat to them and they kept their opponents to below 10 goals. CHIJ (TP) thrashed Outram Secondary, Bishan Park Secondary and First Toa Payoh Secondary 68-7, 45-7 and 82-1 respectively.

Crescent Girls’ School, the other powerhouse in Group B, had no difficulties overcoming their opponents too. Crescent Girls’ School handed Outram Secondary a 44-9 defeat and thrashed Bishan Park and First Toa Payoh 42-3 and 72-0 respectively.

Both will play each other to determine who captures the top position in the group on February 10 at 1pm at CCAB.

In Group C, Raffles Girls' School trounced Queenstown Secondary 58-1, handed Fairfield Methodist School a 43-12 defeat and thrashed Chong Boon Secondary 47-7.

Dark horses in Group C, Singapore Chinese Girls’ School, had no difficulties overcoming their opponents too. SCGS had a comfortable 45-1 victory over Queenstown Secondary and cruised past Fairfield Methodist School and Chong Boon Secondary 24-10 and 30-14 respectively.

SCGS will take on RGS to contest first place in their group on February 10 at 1pm.

In Group D, with only one game left, against Peirce Secondary, St Margaret's Secondary have qualified for the second round as group leader after winning all the games by at least 40 goals. St Margaret's thrashed Bendemeer 44-1, Serangoon Garden Secondary 54-8 and Guangyang Secondary 51-7.

Serangoon Garden qualified for the second round as the runners-up of Group D. Serangoon Garden beat Bendemeer Secondary 28-13, Guangyang Secondary 31-17 and Pierce Secondary 15-6.
