All the recognised powerhouses have entered the second round of the C Division South Zone Netball Championship.

Defending champions St Margaret's Secondary were not threatened by any school as they kept all their first round opponents to below 10 points each. St Margaret’s had comfortable 55-1 and 53-1 victories over Bendemeer Secondary and Holy Innocents' High respectively. St Margaret’s also knocked out Chong Boon Secondary and Cedar Girls' School 27-6 and 24-4 respectively to finish top of the Group A.

Cedar Girls' School finished first runner-up of Group A. In the deciding match between Cedar Girls’ and Chong Boon Secondary, Cedar GIrls’ won 25-11.

In the other matches, Cedar Girls’ toppled Bendemeer and Holy Innocents' High 57-0 and 38-2 respectively.

South Zone first runners-up, CHIJ Secondary (Toa Payoh) had outstanding performances, scoring at least 50 goals and keeping their opponents to below five points in each game to finish first of Group B.

CHIJ (TP) thrashed Serangoon Garden Secondary, Bishan Park Secondary, Crescent Girls' School and Kuo Chuan Presbyterian Secondary 68-2, 50-5, 54-5 and 70-1 respectively.

Crescent Girls' School narrowly beat Bishan Park Secondary 23-17 to qualify for the second round as the first runner-up of Group B. Crescent Girls' also beat Serangoon Garden 38-4 and handed Kuo Chuan Presbyterian Secondary a 39-3 defeat.

In Group C, Raffles Girls' School (RGS) and Fairfield Methodist School qualified for second round. RGS rolled over Fairfield 51-6 to finish top of the group. In the other matches, RGS handed Outram Secondary and Guangyang Secondary 39-10 and 69-6 defeats respectively while Fairfield beat Outram Secondary and Guangyang Secondary 26-15 and 31-15 respectively.

Group D saw dark horses, Singapore Chinese Girls' School, challenging national semi-finalists Ang Mo Kio Secondary for top spot. However, Ang Mo Kio proved stronger of the two when they beat SCGS 25-23 to finish top of the group.

Ang Mo Kio also beat Bukit Merah Secondary and St Theresa's Convent 40-3 and 25-9. SCGS had comfortable 32-9 and 36-0 victories over St Theresa's Convent and Bukit Merah Secondary respectively to book a spot in second round.

C Division South Zone netball second round will start this Tuesday, February 7 at CCAB, 3pm.
