Anglican High School, Tuesday, January 19, 2016 — Dunman High School played an outstanding game against Bedok Green Secondary School for a 72-11 win in the East Zone B Division Girls’ Basketball Championship.

Tan Hui Xiang (#4) and Gladys Lim (#6) of Dunman High led with a game-high 16 points each while Priya (#11) of Bedok Green led her team with four points.

The game started off with Dunman High attacking aggressively, with the players taking every opportunity to get the ball across the court as quickly as possible. Bedok Green’s man-on-man defence was relatively well-organised and the team managed to gain possession of the ball several times; however, Dunman High players took to regaining possession of the ball by surrounding the opponent and pressuring her into making botched passes.

By the end of the first quarter, the score was 13-5 in Dunman High’s favour.

In the 2nd quarter, Dunman High capitalised on their speed to repeatedly outsprint Bedok Green across the court before Bedok Green could defend, allowing them to put together a decisive 22-0 run to leave Bedok Green trailing behind.

Dunman High also kept up their defence, making it extremely difficult for Bedok Green to score. The score was 35-5 by half-time, with Bedok Green unable to score in the 2nd quarter.

Dunman High started off on a roll in the second half, scoring four points within the first two minutes of the game and further widening the score gap between the two teams. They continued to keep up their aggressive offence and defence against Bedok Green with swift footwork and impressive stamina.

However, Bedok Green did not appear to lose steam despite a possibly demoralising score, with Alysha (#15) scoring a 3-pointer at the last second to roaring cheers from the crowd.

Unfortunately for Bedok Green, Dunman High maintained their lead and finished the game off with a score of 72-11.

“We had a slow start, but luckily we could step up our game a bit towards the end,” said Teh Wen Ruey (#5), captain of Dunman High.

Wen Ruey also mentioned that the team could improve on their anticipation.

“We can improve on our discipline as well,” added Tan Hui Xiang (#7), vice-captain of Dunman High.
