Bukit Gombak Stadium, Thursday, April 16, 2015 — Muhammad Hazim (#110) of the Singapore Sports School clinched his first ever C Division boys’ 400m title when he topped the field with a 54.31 second run at the 56th National Inter-School Track and Field Championships.

“I was actually surprised to win, because both my teammates, who were running with me, are strong, and I thought I wasn’t going to get a podium finish,” said Muhammad Hazim, whose pet event is the 800m and 1500m races.

The 14-year-old burst into the lead in the final 200 metres and held on for the win. Teammates Muhamad Nurshahilman (#109) and Gabriel Tan (#101) completed the podium sweep for Singapore Sports School, as they finished in 55.29 and 55.44 seconds respectively.

15-year-old Joshua Lim of Anglo-Chinese School (Independent), who later clinched the B Division boys’ 400m title, holds the current C Division boys’ 400m meet record of 51.65 seconds, and it was set last year.
