Bukit Gombak Stadium, Monday, April 13, 2015 — Singapore Sports School’s Gary Wee (#41) took home the A Division boys’ triple jump gold with a distance of 13.73 metres at the 56th National Inter-School Track and Field Championships.

This is Gary’s first time participating in the triple jump event.

“I’m really surprised because I only started this year and only had three official trainings this year,” said Gary.

Both Joseph Johnathan Zhao (#261) and Aw Jian Yang (#242) of Hwa Chong Institution clinched the silver and bronze respectively with a distance of 13.69 and 13.64 metres.

“My triple jump technique has always been quite inconsistent. Even during the warm-up jumps, I couldn’t quite get it. However during the competition itself, everything just fell into place and the feeling is quite surreal since not only did I execute my technique rather smoothly, I even managed to beat my Personal Best (PB) by quite a distance. I am really happy about my performance today,” said Jian Yang (#242).
