Bishan Stadium, Thursday, April 12, 2012 — Ong Yu Qin from the Red Swastika School took gold in the B-Girls Shot Put event when she threw a distance of 9.09m at the 53rd National Inter-Primary School Track & Field Championships.

Gongshang Primary’s Tan Xin Ning overcame a few bad throws at the start to eventually finish second with a throw of 8.82m.

In the qualifying round, Vanessa Lee of Temasek Primary managed a spectacular shot which boosted her chances at a medal. However, she could not reproduce her form and ultimately slipped to sixth place.

CHIJ Katong Primary’s Nafisa Khatun and Mary Rose Kartika were nearly a metre behind Xin Ning as they took third and fourth respectively. Nafisa managed a distance of 7.86m while Mary threw 7.36m.
