Choa Chu Kang Stadium, Wednesday, April 4, 2012 — Ang Chen Xiang of Raffles Institution successfully defended his A Division 110m Hurdles title when he won in 15.17 seconds at the 53rd National Schools’ Track and Field Championships.
Chen Xiang won last year’s A Division race in 14.46s to match the record set by Abdul Hakeem Bin Abdul Halim, then of Raffles Junior College, in 2005. He had an outstanding year in 2011, representing Singapore in events such as the World Youth Championships, the Commonwealth Youth Games, the South-east Asian Junior Championships and the ASEAN School Games.
Chen Xiang was also responsible for eight of the nine sub-15 second performances in the 110m hurdles with a height of 0.991m, the ones used in the A Division at the Schools’ Championships.
Fabian Lew, also of RI, finished second 0.55s behind in 15.72s while Terence Cheah of Anglo-Chinese Junior College was third in 15.87s.
The top three were separated by no more than 0.70s.
