Bedok Reservoir, Wednesday, March 21, 2012 — Cedar Girls’ Secondary won their third B Division Cross-Country Championship team title in the last four years. Edina Tan finished third and was supported by her teammates Lok Xin Ying (5th), Tay Pei Ern (10th) and Lee Yuet Zhen (22nd) for a 40-point team total that was comfortably ahead of defending B Division champions, River Valley High.
Abigail Sim of Chung Cheng High (Main) crossed the finish line of the 3.6km route in 14 minutes 59.58 seconds to win the B Division category at the 53rd National Schools Cross-Country Championships. Chung Cheng High finished 16th in the team standings.
It was tight finish among the top four B Division runners. Abigail just edged out Adeline Bee of Nan Hua High who finished 0.16 seconds behind in 15:00.14. Adeline, in turn, was just 0.74s ahead of Edina Tan of Cedar Girls’ Secondary. Ariana Collins was not far behind in fourth, clocking 15:01.05.
River Valley High’s best placed runner was Heather Hong in ninth. Together with her teammates, Su Zann (15th), Thaddea Chua (16th) and Sharyl Quek (18th), they combined for a 58-point total to finish second in the team standings.
Nan Hua High finished third. Adeline Bee (2nd), Rachel Ho (14th), Gan Yi Hui (31st) and Zhang Jia Min (40th) combined for 87 points to win the bronze.
CHIJ St. Nicholas Girls’ School trailed them in fourth place. Ng Bei Lin (20th), Dayna Ang (24th), Lim Jia Jun (25th) and Yeo Yue (32nd) had a 101-point total.
