CCAB, Tuesday, January 19, 2010 – The B Division South Zone Basketball Championship saw action this afternoon with Fairfield Methodist School beating off Mayflower Secondary 59-46 for their second win. Fairfield had beaten Bishan Park Secondary 56-16 in their opening game.

Kent Ridge Secondary registered their second win in a row with a 51-22 win over First Toa Payoh Secondary. The game was marked by a bit of humour when a First Toa Payoh player got confused and tried to score into his own basket (he missed). That led to Kent Ridge attacking the wrong end for a brief moment.

Holy Innocents’ High beat Outram Secondary 52-32 for their first win after they had lost to St Andrew’s Secondary 34-48 on Monday.

St Andrew’s, on the other hand, suffered their first loss when they went down 40-60 to Yuying Secondary.

This was Yuying’s second victory after their previous 49-30 win over Queenstown Secondary.

In the girls’ championship, the Singapore Chinese Girls’ School (SCGS) won their second game in a row after rolling over Whitley Secondary 65-12. Their previous win was a 40-25 victory over Cedar Girls’ Secondary earlier in the week.

Zhonghua Secondary got their South Zone campaign off to a winning start with a comfortable 58-28 win over Queensway Secondary.
