CCAB, Wednesday, December 10, 2008 – Zhonghua Secondary edged out Yuying Secondary 47-46 in a Pre-Season B Division Basketball League 1 game.

It was a close game that had spectators clutching each other tightly, perspiration trickling down the faces of the coaches and the players on the bench constantly praying for a victory.

Yuying were clearly the stronger team in the early quarters of the game as Zhonghua were no match for Yuying's agility and aggressiveness on the court.

Yuying had most of the possession and their #9 was a silent killer as she was often disregarded as a threat but made numerous pinpoint shots when the ball was passed to her.

However, in the later quarters of the game, Zhonghua closed the gap and their #12 made plenty of excellent baskets that closed the gap with Yuying.

Zhonghua were soon just a point behind Yuying. In the last 30 seconds of the game, timeouts were called several times by both teams to change tactics constantly.

Zhonghua managed to score two crucial two points to give them the lead with just 10 seconds remaining.

However, the game was still in the balance when Zhonghua fouled a Yuying player to give her two free throws.

As the Yuying players crossed their fingers, the Yuying played managed to score a point with her first free throw. Unfortunately, she missed her second and was unable to tie the score.

Their morale boosted, Zhonghua held on in the remaining seconds to secure their close one-point victory.

In another game, Yishun Town Secondary beat Jurong West 36-28.

Jurong West jumped out to an early lead but Yishun Town came back to close the gap and eventually take the lead and the game.
