Choa Chu Kang Stadium, Friday, July 11, 2008 – It was a photo finish as Ashley Ang (#121) of Victoria Junior College won the gold for the A Division Girls 1500m event at the 49th Inter-school Track & Field Championships with a time of 5 minutes 20.79 seconds.
It was an exciting race to watch as the three runners were neck and neck down the final 100m stretch. To the loud cheers of the supporters, the three girls pushed with all their might to the finishing line. When they crossed, it was unclear who was the winner. When the result was announced, Koh Shi Man Samantha (#174) of Hwa Chong Institution had to settle for the silver with her timing of 5m 20.82s, a mere 0.04s difference.
Just 0.41s behind was Audrey Teng Yen Ru (#69) of Raffles JC who finished third in 5m 21.23s. Audrey was fifth last year in the same event with a time of 5min 39.01s.
