Singapore Basketball Centre, Tuesday, April 15, 2008 – A surprisingly lacklustre Seng Kang Secondary meekly surrendered the semi-final game to Catholic High 47-75 in the B Division National Basketball Championship.

The talented Seng Kang team, consisting of three national youth players, never recovered from going 0-7 down within the first 2 minutes of the game and went on to lose all three quarters to a well-oiled Catholic High offensive machine. They managed to eke out a 16-15 win in the fourth quarter, but not before the entire Catholic High bench had been substituted in the game.

Teo Kun You (#6, SKS) had a miserable afternoon, scoring 7 points in the first three quarters before sitting out the rest of the game.

On the other hand, Jabez Su of Catholic High led all scores with 27 points including four 3-pointers. He was also ably supported by teammates Dominic Lim (#10) with 9 points and Goh Kong Tat (#12) with 20 points. Every Catholic High player also featured in the semi-final game.

The only downside of an otherwise well-played game for Catholic High was the fouling out of centre Ming Xuan.

“I think we won with our defense when we managed to limit Seng Kang in scoring,” said Jonathan Cher, adding that he hoped to improve his performance in the next match.

The next match will be the exciting national championship final against Jurong Secondary on Tuesday, April 22, at Toa Payoh Sports Hall. Game time is uncertain but probably 3:30 p.m. We recommend you get there by 2:00 p.m. to get good seats and watch the girls’ final between Raffles Girls’ School and Nanyang Girls’ High.
