10 out of 28 teams have made it through to the second round of the North Zone B Division Boys Basketball Championship, with pre-season favourites Hougang and North Vista the biggest casualties.

Hougang, playing in Group B, found themselves falling short of expectations in a group that included Presbyterian High who finished the first round with an unbeaten 4-wins-4-losses (4-0) record. Punggol qualified in second place with a 3-1 record, their 46-48 win over Hougang the key victory in their qualification.

In Group C, North Vista (3-2) were left behind by Seng Kang (5-0) and Chung Cheng High (Yishun) (4-1). North Vista’s hopes were dashed when they lost to Chung Cheng High (Yishun) 43-46 in their final group game.

In the other groups, Anderson (4-0) and Woodlands Ring (5-0) stood out with their unbeaten records while in Group D, Christ Church and Yio Chu Kang qualified for the second round with similar 4-1 records. Yio Chu Kang were declared the group winners courtesy of their 47-35 win over Christ Church.

Second round action commences Friday, February 15, with Group H the group-of-death because of the presence of Presbyterian High and Seng Kang.
