Commonwealth beat Jurong West 42-40 in a closely-fought match to book their place in the semifinals against Anglo-Chinese School (International).

Leading 13-11 after the first quarter, Commonwealth soon found themselves on the backfoot in the second quarter when Jurong West outscored them 7-15 to lead 26-20. In a low-scoring third quarter, both teams only managed four points apiece to go into the fourth quarter with Jurong West leading 30-24. But Commonwealth found new energy to score six points to reduce the gap to one and make it 30-31. From then on, both teams traded points with Jurong West still able to keep their noses in front at 39-38. However, they just could not hold the lead and Commonwealth drew level at 40-40 before a final basket by Jordan Kwong (#13) of Commonwealth sealed victory for his team.

The semifinal between Commonwealth and ACS(Int’l) begins at 1 pm on Monday, 27 August 2007 at the Singapore Basketball Centre.
