but no matter. that’s not an issue. i’d say bedok might pip SAFSA to the title. they’ve created history at bedok, who always got thrashed in the past in the U-20 league. anyway, match day tomorrow!
Last I heard they have changed things – the safsa boys have to go back to camp after trainings, and there is no more such thing as 2 weeks off. Seems things not so good for them now..haha.
agree with yes man, SAFSA need 2 weeks off for what? they’re so called in camp for 3 days a week and when they’re out for SAFSA training, they only train in the morning and have the rest of the day off.
gaspar’s playing for TP. bedok are definitely the underdogs but weren’t they in their last two matches against blacks and wanderers respectively? both occasions, they emerged victorious with a good enough scoreline against wanderers. i’m banking on a tough match in the final as bedok will surely attempt an upset. nice one, the safsa boys are having only about three days in camp a week, they don’t need the two weeks off!!
It’ll be more of an Old Boy’s match for the SAFSA vs BEDOK KINGS game as most players are all from ACJC.And SAFSA would really want to win this because they’ll get a two-weeks’ break for the win. 🙂
looks like I was wrong… Blacks won 7-0… try in the early part of the game
My appologies for inaccurate information, heard he was playing.
Rhino, for the plate final, I will go with blacks. Given, Harrresh has been capped at national level and the big guy will the Blacks down, but am not sure if Gaspar will be playing for TP or Bedok? Other than the 2 of them, the TP team is not that sound as 15 guys on the pitch. If they were able to work around the 2 guys, they would be in the finals, or would have at least made the finals.
Blacks are pretty well stocked as a team, added that most are either SA old boys, SAJC players or players who have played toegther for awhile. With former national under 19 players Ashraff, Wilson, Paxton Ong, Ryan Choo and Victor chew in the ranks, they definately have the potential to break the game open. Watch Ryan Choo to turn on the pace and he definately be one to watch at wing.
For the final, I think 10 pts is safe enough, Bedok will prob rely on quickness and team familarity, which ironically enough is SAFSA’s biggest strength – team cohesiveness. Most of the team have been playing at either club or rep level for years, and that will give them the edge over bedok.
From my seat – Teamwork will prob win the day vs strong individual performances, and the team that works well together vs strong individual players will win. That being said, SAFSA is somewhat infamous for being too individual at times too, so if bedok brings a team game, they might just take it!
Agreed, the SAFSA team will be pretty strong..the final may be close or a case of men playing boys (no offence to Bedok that is).
yup Keith Arriola’s not playing this year. It’ll be a tough fight, this batch of SAFSA boys are the bunch that won the U20 league in 2005.
No predictions for the Plate Final? I think that TP will win. With players like Gaspar Tan and Harrresh (both of whom have appeared for the national team), Blacks would probably struggle against them. Gaspar being somewhat of a talisman.
Plate Final is now on 29th June, 7.30pm at YCK
Keith Areola? Good player but i don’t think he’s been playing for the Kings in this competition though. If i’m not wrong the Bedok flyhalf is Mandeep Singh. SAFSA by 10 is a margin they should achieve if the game was played on Championship Manager (Rugby version) but as the saying the ball is round or this case…oval :).
Hi guys,
updates are from SRU direct, should be correct, but will check.
For predictions – well I would put my money on SAFSA to win it, purely on exprience and talent. They have a pack of really mobile forwards and really exprienced backs.
Bedok are the dark horses, and have done well to get to the final, cheers to mark lee and andrew fong on a great job. Made up of acjc , acs br and monfort boys, look at players such as keith areloa from Monfort to be key player as well as the exprienced heads fom ACJC.
SO here it is – safsa by 10 points.
Is it? Just checked that the SRU site doesn’t say anything! Still got 2006 content..bleah! :P!
hey, i heard that the match is on friday (29june) instead on sat (30june).
is it confirmed?
yea what i wanted to ask exactly. no predictions this time around?
any good tips this time round incidentalexpert?
