Guangyang showed they could play better as a team when they finished the first half with a lead of 16-9. Guangyang’s #11 Tan Cheng Khai was their most threatening player and he had the confidence to continually drive into the paint and execute layups.
In the third quarter, Guangyang’s dominance was such that they pulled away to 20-9 before ACS(I) could reply with a basket to bring it to 11-20. Guangyang continued to pile on the points to go to 26-11 before #4 Sean Lim, captain of ACS(I) managed to steal the ball for a quick counter-attack and easy layup for two precious points to make the score 13-26.

However, Guangyang were too good. They went on a 9-2 run and won the game comfortably 35-15 to start their campaign on a winning note.
"Our offense is acceptable," said a modest Tan Cheng Khai captain of the Guangyang team. "But our passing is a problem and our defense is not fast enough."

Commenting on their lack of scoring, vice-captain of ACS(I), #8 Siri Wat said, " We needed to get open more often." Added his captain, #4 Sean Lim: "We need to work on our offense, on our passing, especially for our Shooting Guard. Also our fast breaks need to improve."
Guangyang and ACS(I) are in Group A together with Raffles Institution, Fairfield Methodist Secondary and Peicai Secondary. In another game today, Fairfield Methodist flattened Peicai Secondary 68-9 to register their first win of the season.
