This game was very crucial for both sports school and us. Before the game, our coach, Mrs Tan, told us to play “happy netball” and just to enjoy the process. We weren’t feeling very confident, but we were determined to fight till the end. Everyone was defending hard whenever there’s a turnover and I really felt the bond we shared as we smiled at each other sometimes on court for encouragement. Even when mistakes were made, we helped each other to try and get the ball back. At the 9 min and 33 seconds of the 4th quarter, Valerie (GD) was injured and had to call for time. This broke sport’s school momentum but they got it back again after the break. North Vista were leading by five goals then. During the last 27 seconds, Sports School fought hard to the very last second and scored two goals but they were unable to catch up with us. North Vista won 29-26! We were excited and shocked. Valerie even thought we lost! The other schools were also shocked.

We would like to take this chance to thank all our supporters and those people who unknowingly spur us on. May the best team win in the semi-finals!

Editor’s note: North Vista had lost to Sports School in two previous encounters this year, the last defeat being the North Zone Championship Final. North Vista are now in the semi-finals against Cedar Girls while Sports School are apparently out of the running as best as I understand it. If you have the exact information, please let us know who are the top four teams in the semi-finals. Thanks.
