The difference in class showed as Catholic High strolled to a 6-0 lead in the first inning alone. From then on, it was quite clear how the match would turn out. Catholic High’s Yiming was given a chance to pitch, while there were several changes in the other positions. Catholic High was obviously using this game to try out a few tactics in preparation for the semi-finals, while Yuying Secondary, on the other hand, had nothing to play for, having already lost their previous two games. The atmosphere was a huge contrast to the previous game against ACS(I) as it was rather relax and the players from both sides looked to be enjoying themselves, judging from the smiles on their faces.

Ming Sheen managed to hit a home run in the second inning despite having two strikes against him. However, a clever play from Yuying saw one of their players come back to the home plate to end the inning 8-1.

The third inning was almost a no-contest as the scoreline was stretched to 15-1, courtesy of a few overthrows at first base by the Yuying counterparts and some good batting from the Catholic High players.

The players from Yuying finally got their act together in the fourth inning, holding Catholc High to only 2 runs. However, they were still unable to score and the inning ended at 18-1.

The game might have turned out differently had Yuying started the game like the final inning, as they held Catholic High to another two runs only. However, it was too late as the lead was insurmountable by then.

Nevertheless, credit has to be given to the Yuying players for their efforts to reach this stage, and the sporting manner in which they carried themselves.

The semi-finals will be held at Kallang on 9 April, Monday. Catholic High will be facing the runner-up of the other group in what seems to be yet another exciting match to look forward to.
