Singapore, Friday, September 20, 2013 – Loh Jia Yi of Raffles Institution and Bertha Han Jing of Raffles Girls’ School won the Singapore Schools Sports Council (SSSC) Overall Best School Boy and Girl awards respectively for 2013.

The two sailors were selected from the Best School Boy and Girl award winners of each sport.

Loh Jia Yi, 15, was crowned world Optimist champion after he comprehensively beat a field of 259 sailors aged 15 and below from 58 nations at the 2013 World Optimist Championship. Bertha Han Jing, 15, topped the female standings which was also good for fourth overall at the same event.

A total of 606 students from 87 schools won National Schools Colours Awards. Of these, 152 students received the National Schools Colours Award for representing Singapore Schools at the 2013 ASEAN Schools Games.
