Goh Eng Wei of NUS is a 400-metre runner who was part of the Singapore team that took part in the 2012 ASEAN University Games held in Vientiane, Laos., He ran in the 400m and 4x400m relay races and shares with us a first-hand account of his experience.
Soh Rui Yong shares with us a first-hand account of his 5,000m and 10,000m races at the recent 2012 ASEAN University Games held in December.
Soh Rui Yong, 21, of Singapore, ran a personal best (PB) time of 32 minutes 26 seconds to finish fourth in the 10,000m final at the ASEAN University Games. His previous PB was 33:14.74 set at the 2012 National Under-23 and Open Championships.
Gary Yeo of Singapore won the 100m sprint final at the ASEAN University Games in a new personal best time of 10.44 seconds.
The Singapore ASEAN University Games track and field team will be represented by 18 athletes in Laos, with Olympians Gary Yeo and Calvin Kang amongst them.
The hot weather proved to be no obstacle for Singapore’s athletes as they produced a good showing here, winning a bronze medal in the women's High Jump and the 4x100m men's relay respectively.
