NTU, Sunday, July 17, 2016 — Singapore lost 56-65 to Malaysia to finish fourth in the ASEAN University Games basketball tournament.

Singapore had finished fourth in the five-team group with a 1-3 win-loss record and that meant they had to play Malaysia (2-2) who finished third.

Indonesia, who finished with a 3-1 record in Round 1, qualified for the gold medal playoff against Thailand (4-0) who beat them 66-60. However, Thailand found themselves on the losing end in the final as Indonesia won the gold with a 73-57 victory.

Singapore began the tournament with a comfortable 103-46 win over Laos. In their next game, they lost 50-71 to Malaysia.

Their next opponents were Indonesia and Singapore made it a close game for three quarters before going down 62-73.

Their final preliminary round game was against Thailand, and they lost that one 66-71.
