Hougang Sports Hall, Monday, April 11, 2016 — A thrilling match between Innova Junior College (IJC) and Tampines Junior College (TPJC) ultimately concluded in a 3-3 draw in the first match of the National A Division Floorball Championship for both teams.

Shureen Teh (IJC #12) was the top scorer with two goals, while Victoria Leng (TPJC #14), Min Kwok (TPJC #9), and Chin Li Qi (TPJC #18) scored a goal apiece for TPJC.

Shureen (IJC #12) scored the first goal of the match with a point-blank shot within the first minute. She scored yet another goal in the last minute, to pull her team up to a 2-0 lead by the end of the first period.

The short rest perked up TPJC, as they went into the second period with renewed vigour. Victoria (TPJC #14) opened the scoring for TPJC with a shot past IJC goalkeeper Nurul Izzah (#8). This was followed by the equalising goal from teammate Min Kwok (TPJC #9) to make it 2-2.

TPJC pulled ahead 3-2 in the fourth minute of the third period with a point blank goal from Li Qi (TPJC #18).

Yet IJC did not give up, and a well-aimed shot by Kathleen (IJC #26) in the final two minutes made it a 3-3 draw.

When asked about the match, TPJC captain Victoria (#14) said, “It was an intense game. We performed better than expected because we lost to this team last year, and gave our best. However, we need to improve on our fitness.”

TPJC will next play Nanyang Junior College while IJC will take on Meridian Junior College.
