Hougang Sports Hall, Wednesday, April 13, 2016 — National Junior College (NJC) defeated Temasek Junior College (TJC) 4-2 in their opening preliminary round game of the National A Division Floorball Championship.
Down 0-2 after the first period, NJC adapted to TJC tactics to score four unanswered goals over the two remaining period to secure the win.
Kumaran s/o Selvvaratnam (NJC #7) was the top scorer of the game with two goals.
Three minutes into the opening period, Andrew Hong (TJC #20) scored the opening goal for TJC.
Halfway through the first period, Toh Guan Wei (NJC #9) was given a a two-minute penalty and Ong Pin Quan (TJC #6) took advantage of the one-man advantage to score a second for TJC.
NJC came back in the second period with Kumaran (NJC #7) behind both two goals to even up the tie at 2-2 heading into the final period.
With 10 minutes left on the clock, Mitchell Koh (NJC #4) scored from a rebound to make it 3-2. A minute later, Mak Jun Wei (NJC #6) then rode on the momentum and dropped a shot into the bottom right corner of the net to wrap up the 4-2 win.
NJC will next face off with Nanyang Junior College while TJC will play with powerhouse, Meridian Junior College.
