Hougang Sports Hall, Monday, March 28, 2016 – Coral Secondary (CS) beat St Margaret’s Secondary (SMS) 4-3 in the National B Division Floorball Championship to secure a spot in the semi-finals.

This was Coral’s fourth win in Round 2, with their sole loss coming against Orchid Park. They finished second in their group behind Orchid Park. As for St Margaret’s, they ended their season with no wins in Round 2 despite some close matches.

Nurliza Bte Sani (SM #4) was the top scorer of the game with two goals.

Coral built a 3-0 lead within the first period through Sharifah Aqilah Bte Shahruddein (CS #18), Nur Eliisa Abdullah Juntuwen (CS #24) and Erin Ng (CS #25).

However, St Margaret’s made an aggressive comeback in the second period, with Nur Arinah Bte Sani (#4) scoring two goals, and Adriana Ng (#5) bagging one. Adriana was the standout player for St Margaret’s, as she led the attack, scoring and breaking through Coral’s defense.

Coral however managed to score a goal through Nur Mashitah Bte Hatwi (#16) to keep a slim 4-3 lead heading into the final period.

Both teams struggled to add any more goals in the final period but with two minutes to go, St Margaret’s were given a penalty. However, Coral’s goalkeeper made a fine save to preserve the 4-3 win and secure their spot in the semi-finals.

When the whistle blew to signal the end of the game, the Coral players rushed over to hug their goalkeeper out of happiness.

Coral will now face Bukit Merah Secondary in the semi-final on Friday, April 1, at Yishun Spots Hall.
